Software / Firmware Engineer, Video Systems

Development of embedded software systems for video processing, command and control, and hardware user interfaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for all phases of the embedded software development cycle including research, design, implementation, system debug, and documentation.

Design and implementation of embedded software systems in C/C++ and native code - development targets will include PPC /VxWorks. Unit test, system test, and general troubleshooting of embedded software systems. System debugging of microprocessor based hardware /software systems. Project management including scheduling, status reporting, risk mitigation, and contingency planning. Documentation throughout the entire development cycle including high-level specifications, requirements, and design descriptions, detailed implementation specifications, and test plans. System integration of hardware and software components including troubleshooting. Ongoing product support and sustaining engineering including product release management. Technical evaluation to assess new tools, alternative technologies and improved design solutions.

Previous experience programming in C/C++ and assembler targeting multiple CPU families (including PowerPC). Hard Real-time systems experience including troubleshooting. 
Strong VxWorks development skills. Network protocols knowledge (UDP, TCP/IP, FTP, Ethernet, Telnet, SNMP, HTTP). Object oriented architecture design experience (UML). Previous experience with large embedded systems. B.Sc. or M.Sc. Electrical or Computer Engineering.
